This wonderful, invigorating experience is the result of one of those ‘what if’ conversations. We were trying to think of the most exciting local place that we could abseil down. And…boom! It came to us. Why not slide down the side of this famous 13th century castle? Why not indeed? Come on, give it a go! It might just be the highlight of your trip.
A little bit of the history
The Hawarden Old Castle, originally two stories high, is a Grade 1 listed medieval Castle near Hawarden Flintshire, Wales. Over the years, this 13th Century Castle played a key role in the wars for Welsh independence, as well as being garrisoned by royalist troops in the 1642 Civil war. The Old Castle now sits over Hawarden Castle, and is a private part of the Estate. It is available for private tours for Holidays guests, and for private abseiling sessions. The Old Castle is otherwise only open a few times a year for charity open days and as part of our Summer Camp event.
About the experience
There is no minimum group size for this experience but the maximum is 10 people per session. The experience includes all equipment and some refreshments for the group. Please get in touch to find out about availability and pricing.
